Eddie Sparks and Dixie Leonard had been America's premiere entertainers. The comic couple are about to be honoured on a live TV show when Dixie refuses to attend. As she reveals to the young man sent to fetch her, the public face of her teaming with Eddie masked the pleasure and pain of an intensely pressured relationship.
