Our Yorkshire police duo investigate a series of murders carried out by someone known as "the Choker", because of the killer's habit of strangling his victims. After each slaying, the killer rings up the local newspaper and quotes a line from Hamlet. Malcolm Bradbury, who adapted this says: "The character of the murderer resembles a Hamlet made sinister." Shakespearean overtones or not, these re-run episodes are doing very well in the ratings. Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan's combined charms continue to woo even second time out and viewers should note that they can look forward to two brand new episodes later this year.
