After disappointing results in the Barcelona Olympics, the British team will be hoping to repeat theirsuccess of just two years ago in the Netherlands, when they became world champions. In the pool, Nick Gillingham is aimingfor a place in the 200m breaststroke final when he swims in today's heats. The last time Britain won this event was in Montreal, in 1976, when David Wilkie won the gold medal in record time. Twenty years on, Gillingham will once again be swimming for gold, in a determined attempt to improve on his bronze medal win in Barcelona fouryears ago, and the silver medal which he collected eight years ago in Seoul.
Meanwhile, world short-course champion Sarah Hardcastle swims in the 800m freestyle heats, hopingfora place in tomorrow's final. With commentary from Hamilton Bland and Andy Jameson. Introduced by Sue Barker.

Desmond Lynam presents another look at all the action from Atlanta on day six of the Olympics.

Britain's three-day event team have won gold three times at the Olympics and, after winning the World Championships two years ago, they were among the favourites to top the podium in Atlanta today. This successful side has remained virtually intact since winning the world title in the Netherlands, with Karen Dixon, Charlotte Bathe and Mary King all in action at the Georgia International Horse Park.

Another of Britain's medal hopes was in action today at the cycling velodrome at Stone Mountain Park, where Graeme Obree started his bid for Olympic gold in the early rounds of the men's pursuit.

In the pool, Nick Gillingham swam in the qualifying heats of the 200m breaststroke, and Sarah Hardcastle was in the women's 800m freestyle heats.

Plus live action from the lightweight judo finals, news from the tennis courts, and a look ahead at tomorrow's rowing semi-finals featuring champions Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent.

In 1934, in Canada, Elzire Dionne gave birth to five identical girls, attracting a great deal of unwanted media attention. To ensure the babies' survival, the sisters were looked after in a specially built hospital, only to become a major tourist attraction. Cecile, Annette and Yvonne, the three surviving sisters, are now 62 and living together in Montreal. In tonight's documentary, they talk openly about their lives, which since birth have been scarred by loneliness and tragedy.

The fifth day of competition could start on a familiar note, with Belarus's Vitaly Scherbo looking to win another gymnastics gold as he defends his men's all-round title. Scherbo won six golds in Barcelona and is one of the favourites to win this evening, along with world champion Li Xiaozhuang of China. Lee McDermott and Dominic Brindle compete for Britain.
