The first of seven programmes
Sport has always been concerned with speed, with who can run, swim, ride or drive the fastest.
Daley Thompson, probably the greatest athlete in the world, looks at the art of sprinting and the ways in which runners improve their times.
June Croft, Britain's fastest lady swimmer, talks about speed through the water.
And we'll also be looking at some of Britain's youngest speedway riders at the King's Lynn school of Swedish star Olle Nygren. Introduced by Peter Purves, Daley Thompson and Janice Long

The second of three films: Sumo
An expectant roar goes up from the 5,000 crammed into the stadium. Across Japan, millions more sit transfixed in front of their televisions as two scantily-clad men, weighing 25 stones apiece charge each other across the earth ring. Seconds later, it's all over with the loser picking himself up from the dirt. To the newcomer, Sumo often seems ludicrous or repulsive. But Donny MacLeod soon finds himself enthralled by this ritualistic sport.
