Introduced by Peter Purves and Dave Lee Travis
A landscape contractor, a doctor, a tomato grower, two engineers, a motor trader, an estate agent and no less than three farmers make up the ten amateur drivers who are competing for the title of BBC Television's Driver of the Year. These finalists have come to Oulton Park from the four corners of the UK to take part.
Facing them are six events building up to a motor race where, for the first time, they meet each other in open competition - a fitting finale to a closely-fought contest.

Ten years ago exactly, more or less, give or take a day or two, six young men sat down, or maybe stood, or perhaps some of them just lounged, and wrote the first episode of a new series called Owl Stretching Time. They were called Graham Chapman , John Cleese, Terry Gilliam , Eric Idle,Terry Jones and Michael Palin and later both they and the series became known as Monty Python 's Flying Circus .
Today they are the best known British comedy group in the world, famous from Cathay to Kathmandu, from Sydney to Sidcup (except in Japan where the programme is called The Gay Boys' Dragon Show ... say no more).
To commemorate their tenth anniversary a BBC team tracked them down in the deserts of Tunisia where they were filming their Life of Brian and almost persuaded them to examine the genesis, the genius and the gender of Monty Python.

The characters we know from fiction who still live on today. 2: The Schoolteacher
Gerri Feemster is a bright, pretty girl, with a vocation to teach, who came to New York in search of a richer life. She had already beaten many odds against her. She is black and from the South. So, they gave her a job as a Special Education teacher at the Benjamin Franklin High School in Harlem's lawless East Side, teaching the unteachable in siege conditions.
New York City has 40,000 students in need of Special Education, mostly blacks and Puerto Ricans who would drop out of the system altogether into the violence of the ghetto, if it wasn't for teachers like Gerri.
