I How can. we convince people that instead of voting for their traditional candidates, they should vote for nature - not a political party.'
Earlier this year, Captain Cousteau returned from his search for Atlantis to campaign in the French national elections in support of Ecologie 78 - a political association formed to fight the election specifically on environmental issues. Cousteau's personal theme was based on his fervent opposition to the expansion of nuclear power in France.
Tonight Julian Pettifer , together with representatives of environmental pressure groups, trades unions and members of the public on this side of the Channel, discusses with CAPTAIN COUSTEAU ways in which public opinion can best be mobilised.
