Michael Rodd presents a new series of programmes in which he explores the natural world and brings us a closer insight into the habits and talents of animals living in our midst.

Shire horses Daisy, Bonny, Beauty and Bess make a picturesque sight as they pull the gang plough - but it's not for this reason Geoffrey Morton has a work force of Shires on his farm in Yorkshire. Yorkshire-bred horses make excellent police horses, and a visit to the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch Training Establishment at Imber Court shows the ultimate that can be achieved in police horse training.
