' School Life in Germany '
A. G. ELLIOTT-SMITH
Today's speaker, who is an English schoolmaster, spent three months last autumn teaching in a typical German school. While there he had ample opportunity to contrast the educational systems of the two countries in general, and school life in particular. This morning he is going to describe a typical day in the life of a German schoolboy. He will outline the aims that German education has in view, and show how the system as a whole is working.

Our Parish
(A special series for Rural Schools by EDITH E. MACQUEEN, Ph.D.)
'The Moor in Summer'

At the present time of year the lovely moorlands that surround the parish of Thorwick are approaching their full summer splendour like those in other parts of the country. In this afternoon's broadcast you are going to hear some of the Thorwick folk and hear how they regard their moors, how they 'work' them, and how they profit from them. You will also hear about peat, and the making of heather besoms, and about the making of the famous heather honey.

★ Daylight Rehearsal
The Assembly and Grand Finale from Rushmoor Arena .
There will be seven broadcasts this week from the Aldershot Tattoo. This afternoon (Regional, 2.40) and on Saturday (National, 9.45) listeners will hear a description of Changing the Guard. Today (Regional, 3.20) and on Saturday (National, 10.20) they will hear the Massed Bands. Today (National, 4.30) and on Saturday (National, 11.30) they will hear a commentary on the Grand Finale, with its inspiring theme, ' Steady and Strong ', combined with the picturesque legend of Drake's Drum, supposed to sound whenever England is in danger. The recorded voice speaking Newbolt's poem is that of John Snagge , who, with Michael Standing , will give the commentaries.
The seventh broadcast (on Saturday) will cover the exciting item, ' Co-operation ', showing three air troop carriers coming to the help of troops in action. It is hoped that S. J. de Lotbiniere will be in one of the aeroplanes to give his impressions.
