An account of the morning's play in the international match by Eleanor Helme from the Bramshott Golf Club, Fleet
This annual match between Great Britain and France was instituted in 1931, and has been played alternately in each country every year since. Great Britain has won every year except in 1934 at Chantilly, when each side won 41 matches.
Play is by foursomes in the morning, singles in the afternoon, six a side ; the winning team holds the Vagliano trophy, presented by M. and Madame Vagliano , the latter captain of the French side. The British non-playing captain this year is Mrs. J. B. Watson , four times Scottish champion. The course is a new venue for an important women's fixture-a natural course with springy turf and perfect greens.
Eleanor Heime , who gives both commentaries-the second at 4.50 -played for England in 1011, 1912, 1913, and ]920. She has been women's golf correspondent to The Morning Post (and now The Daily Telegraph) since 1919. She first broadcast from Edinburgh in 1926, and has given broadcasts on golf at intervals ever since.

That great cellist and teacher of the cello, Friedrich Buxbaum. was born in Vienna and studied at the Conservatoire there. He came to England for the first time forty years ago and was engaged as first cellist in the Glasgow Symphony Orchestra. He has visited this country practically every year since, and now for eight months has been resident here.
He was specially invited by Gustav Mahler to play at Covent Garden; has been solo cellist of the State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, playing under such conductors as Richter, Nikisch, Mahler, Furtwiingler, Walter, Toscanini, Mengelberg.
On his visits to England he has played frequently at concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rose Quartet, and with the Buxbaum Quartet has made many quartet records.
Though he has often broadcast from Vienna, this evening will mark his radio début over here.
He has played frequently with Max Pirani. who is well known to listeners, and whose wife, Leila Pirani , studied under Rose in Vienna and was at one time with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
