Listeners are to hear a service from a chapel which was made famous by the ministry of Hugh Stowell Brown, from 1848 to 1886. Myrtle Street Baptist Church is hardly ' out in the country' now, but when it was built in 1844, and the congregation was removed from the old church in Lime Street, the new district was a suburb adjoining green fields. The chapel had to be enlarged three times to accommodate the crowd who came to hear the famous preacher.

The music of Dennis Stall's 'Twelve Dancing Princesses' is based on Grimm's famous fairy tale of twelve Princesses who wore out their shoes each night with dancing, although the perplexed King carefully locked their bedroom door. It commences with a whirl of the Magic Cloak of Invisibility, under cover of which an old Soldier follows the Princesses through a secret passage to the Fairy Ballroom. There he watches them waltz away the night in company with twelve handsome Princes. The next morning, the old Soldier claims the eldest Princess and half the kingdom as a reward for his assiduity; which granted, general happiness reigns, and everybody dances on for ever and ever.

WELFARE ASSOCIATION, CUMBERLAND by The Rev. R. G. MALDEN
The work that the Whitehaven and District Welfare Association does for girls in distress is not only remedial but protective. Girls from undesirable homes, or those who have no homes, can be placed in shelters and refuges according to their need. Young children in moral danger are helped. Boys and men are helped to see the necessity and possibility of a single moral standard. The work is a challenge to all Christians.
