played by Percival Mackey and his Band
After three and a half years' service during the last war Percival Mackey entered the music-publishing business. Overheard while demonstrating songs, he was offered a job as band pianist. Then, forsaking the piano for the baton, he acted as musical director for some of the most successful musical comedies on the West-End stage, among them No! No! Nanette and Gay Divorce.

'Modern methods for the grower' by Geoffrey Tawell
Geoffrey Tawell , who gave a talk in this series in April, will tell small-holders and market growers how useful scientific results can be to practical farming. There are thousands of holdings and small farms which after nearly two years of war are still producing less than half what they might, largely because the occupiers do not realise the boon of modem equipment, knowledge, and advice. Speaking from his own experience, Mr. Tawell wants to tell these people, and also those who are new to the game, what it is possible to achieve.
