A. S. Arensky (1861-1906), one of the most interesting of minor Russian composers, is known in England chiefly by his pleasant, lyrical chamber music and by his polished miniatures for piano, which he produced prolifically. Though a pupil of Rimsky-Korsakov, his work is not very remarkable for national colouring. It is similar in quality to the more lyrical part of Tchaikovsky's output.
The Piano Quintet is generally considered to be Arensky's master-piece ; particularly pleasing is the second movelinent which consists of a set of variations on the French folk song ' Sur le pont d'Avignon'.

'Fish need not be coarse ' ' by Bruce Blunt and Jack Bright
Bruce Blunt , who recently gave a talk on eels in the ' Kitchen Front' series, has a palate for tasty dishes. He has lived a lot in France-land of delightful cooking. He was at one time cookery expert on a popular daily paper. His talk today, as the title suggests, is about cooking coarse fish. Jack Bright , whom he is bringing to the microphone, is an ardent angler, well known to a generation of patrons of one of London's oldest taverns.
