A highlight concert from this year's Proms, recorded on 31 August at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of new chief conductor Simon Rattle, in a programme dedicated to great works of the 20th century.
Beginning with Bartok's eerie masterpiece Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, Britain's virtuoso violinist Tasmin Little then takes the stage for the first performance at the Proms of Ligeti's shimmering violin concerto, in celebration of the composer's 80th birthday. The concert climaxes with a seminal work first played amid riotous scenes in 1913 - Stravinsky's savage ballet The Rite of Spring. Presented by James Naughtie.

The huge and enduring popularity of John Lennon 's song, Imagine, is examined in this documentary.
Yoko Ono , who is now acknowledged as the co-author of the song, is filmed as she continues her mission to spread Lennon's message using "any means I can". Analysis of the song's power - the lyrics are shown to be appreciated by people with different beliefs - also includes contributions from academics, and psychiatrist
Raj Persaud even goes so far as to claim the song fills the void left by the decline in organised religion.
There's also space given to detractors, including journalist Robert Elms , who openly detests the track.
Director/Producer Frederick Baker Gimme Some Truth - Storyville, a documentary about the recording of the album Imagine, follows on BBC4 at 10.35pm Danny Kelly on John Lennon : page 23
