Twenty years after rioting in Southall, west London, claimed the life of teacher Blair Peach, Melanie Sykes visits the area to find out how the largest Asian community outside the Indian sub-continent has evolved since 1979. Sykes (who has an Indian mother) talks to people caught up in the fighting two decades ago, and to their children, and discovers that a a new confidence has replaced the old fears.
