Investigations reveal it was once the local telephone exchange, built in the 18th century on the profits of coal. John Wayne Gacy, Businessman of the Year, is a tireless charity worker, a children's entertainer, a pillar of the community. But he is also a mass murderer who is responsible for the torture and brutal killing of 33 young men. Detective Joe Kozenczak, investigating the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy, questions Gacy, senses he has something to hide, and begins a 24-hour surveillance operation.
