The last in the series looks back to 1981, when a fire at New Cross in London killed 13 teenagers. Black people blamed racists for the tragedy and protested at what they saw as police indifference. Today, parents of those who died want the case closed, but will their local community ever let them?

And in America, the Rev Jesse Jackson tells why he believes the introduction of the Proposition 209 law will end any progress gained by the civil-rights struggles of the sixties.

Plus Iyanla Vanzant talking about her book Acts of Faith, and Roni Size on how he used his Mercury Music Prize money to help budding musicians in Bristol.

With Rianna Scipio.
The series returns next autumn.

James Naughtie presents live coverage from St Paul's Cathedral in London of a special performance of Edward Elgar's masterpiece as part of the celebrations marking the BBC's 75th anniversary.

Andrew Davis conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, with tenor
Philip Langridge, bass Alastair Miles and mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers as the soloists.

Despite a disastrous first performance, in Birmingham, of this 1900 work, it has, as Elgar had hoped, become a classic in the British choral repertoire.

Today's Choices: The Dream of Gerontius 7.30pm BBC2
When Elgar completed this oratorio in 1900, he considered it his best work. Based on a poem by Cardinal Newman, it follows the soul of the elderly Gerontius - who, Elgar stressed, was a man like us - as it passes from life into death. The result is a moving journey of spiritual discovery.
Andrew Davis conducts an all-star cast in the live performance of this choral masterpiece from St Paul's Cathedral. The soloists are mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers (the Angel), tenor Philip Langridge (Gerontius) and bass Alastair Miles (the Priest and the Angel of the Agony), with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
The concert, which is part of the BBC's 75th anniversary celebrations, is broadcast simultaneously on Radio 3.
