This documentary film captures the distinctive sights and sounds of the species that inhabit an estuary in winter. The behavioural patterns of wildlife in the area are dictated by the tides. See today's choices.

The aim of this documentary is to give viewers the sense of really "being there" ("there" being an estuary in winter). So the programme makers have relied on the sounds of wildlife to evoke the atmosphere of this constantly changing habitat and show how life revolves around the daily tidal cycle. There is only sparse narration (from Tom Conti) and muted music.
The footage (taken by cameraman Ian McCarthy of the Life in the Freezer team) features many natural spectacles caused by the tide including seals bracing themselves for a storm and dense swarms of tiny waders twisting and turning in a dramatic orange sky.
Bob Flowerdew reveals how he uses an old car tyre when he plants out his seed potatoes in Norfolk, while Nick Wray talks to an expert about how to introduce new plant varieties and improve old ones. Pius a visit to a Japanese garden in some unlikely surroundings. Presented by Geoff Hamilton from Bamsdale. See today's choices.
