A one-off play mirroring the real-life abuse often meted out to foreign domestic workers by British employers.

Kumari escapes the clutches of the cruel employer who brought her from Sri Lanka to London only to find herself hunted as an illegal immigrant, part of a vast pool of poorly paid labour.

Penniless, minus her passport and facing deportation if captured, Kumari is advised by Letty, a friendly Filipino domestic. Finally, Kumari believes she may earn enough money to ease her family's debts in Sri Lanka. But luck and British law conspire to thwart her efforts.

This play was made with the co-operation of Kalayaan, the Justice for Overseas Workers campaign, in collaboration with the BBC's Community Programme Unit.
