This special edition of Moving Pictures examines how cinema has developed in the 100 years since the Lumiere brothers startled audiences with Train
Arriving at a Station. It demonstrates how innovations rangingfrom sound, colour, 3D, CinemaScope and Cinerama to today's simulator rides have been around in one form or another since cinema began. There are interviews with movie pioneers and with Roman Kroiter, inventor of the giant IMAX film format. Plus a look at the making of the 70mm movie Wings of Courage, which opens in Britain next year.

A celebration of the flamboyant writer Robert Graves , showing to mark his centenary year.Â

Graves is famous as the author of I, Claudius, but he was also a prolific poet and critic, and author of a fine account of the First World War, Goodbye to All That. Love was Graves's great theme as a poet, and his complicated love life gave him endless inspiration. His affair with American poet Laura Riding lasted 13 years and in later years a succession of "muses" shared his bohemian life.

Through all this his wife Beryl stayed with him, and in tonight's programme she and other members of his family contribute to an affectionate but candid portrait of a great English eccentric.
