Live from Church House,
Westminster, as the Church of England debates whether or not to ordain women priests. If the measure is passed today, around 1,200 women deacons could become priests in 1994, but whichever way the vote goes the Church of England could be in for difficult times.
The crucial vote is expected this afternoon. For the legislation to be passed it needs a two-thirds majority in each of the three houses - the bishops, the clergy, the laity. The voting is predicted to be very close. Commentary by John Barton. Introduced by Francine Stock. Director Steve Benson
Producer Helen Alexander

The Memory of the Offence Italian writer Primo Levi committed suicide five years ago. During the Second World War, Levi survived a year in Auschwitz as a prisoner of the Germans and the memory haunted him for the rest of his life. This film tells Levi's story through his own words, and those of his friends who remember his growing pessimism as he fought to explain an experience which defied description and which he feared was destined to happen again. As the horror of concentration camps revisits Europe in the Balkans, this film is a timely reminder of civilisation's potential for barbarism. Producer Denys Blakeway
