An eight-part
NEW documentary series that chronicles a dramatic period in the Labour-controlled London Borough of Lewisham's history. Some of the complex committee procedures and political manoeuvring that keep much of local government working clouded in obscurity are brought to life by producers Malcolm Hirst and Charles Stewart , who spent more than a year filming there. Given access anywhere in the town hall by the council, no door was closed to them, no discussion too sensitive. 1: Bad News. The council discovers a 15 million overspend in the education budget. After years of cuts, and with no reserves, they have to consider making people redundant. A wrong move will provoke a political crisis.
