John Thirlwell's personal view of Oporto and the Douro Valley in Portugal.
Documentary. Whenever Eileen Allen moaned about her mother-in-law, her husband Ernest said, "She's old. She won't be here much longer. Our turn will come later." Ernest is now dead. His mother is still alive - one of Eileen's "ladies" - six relatives all over 80. Amid family feuds, Eileen continues to care for them all and retain a sense of humour. Her bitter-sweet story will strike a chord with everybody who has ever had to cope with old age.

John Fashanu presents the investigative sports series. Where does good, hard competition end and downright violence begin? An increasing number of players are taking legal action against opponents. Is sport going soft, or are the officials allowing the thugs to get away with too much on the field of play? Plus, pigeon racing is one of Britain's oldest and most popular sports but its future is threatened by an endangered species. Too many racing birds are being killed in flight by the predatory peregrine falcon. Editor David Taylor
Night Life. The sun goes down, the lights go out, and then - for human beings, so dependent on eyesight - it's "the dead of night". But night is far from dead. It's the time when a whole world of animals feed, fight, mate and live out their lives.
Narrated by David Attenborough. Producer Dilys Breese
