The bandoneon - or button accordion - was imported to
Argentina by an Irish sailor in the 1890s. It became the authentic sound of Buenos Aires, and the music of the tango became Argentina's legacy to world music. Astor Piazzolla breathes new life into the old tango of the bordellos, with its undulating rhythms and melodic invention. His first public appearance in the United Kingdom last year was an outstanding musical event.
Piazzolla plays six tangos with the New Tango Sextet:
Daniel Bineiii (bandoneon) Gerardo Gandini (piano) Jose Bragato (cello)
Hector Console (double bass) and Horacio Malvicino (guitar). Producer Tony Staveacre

It's four years since the winner here has gone on to win the Wimbledon title; perhaps this time that sequence will be broken.
But with the women's game in such an exciting period of change, who can tell whether the new French champion, Monica Seles , is capable of winning on grass as well.
Eastbourne's favourite,
Martina Navratilova , will have something to say about that in her quest for a ninth Wimbledon singles title.
Introduced by Helen Rollason with commentary by Dan Maskell , John Barrett and Virginia Wade. Producer Johnnie Watherston
