Rivers to the Sea
Rivers set the tempo for all who join their progress - this film, shot over a period of two years on Canadian rivers, records salmon struggling up river to their spawning grounds, and eels arriving at the freshwater habitat where they grow to maturity. Ospreys, kingfishers, cormorants, beavers and people are among those who feed off the rich variety of prey species.

Sixteen years ago, General Pinochet's violent military coup ended a long tradition of democracy in Chile. For the Santiago shanty town of La
Victoria this has meant years of brutal repression. In the struggle for survival it is the women who have had to take the lead in organising the community. This film focuses on Hortensia Zavala , whose husband was shot during a demonstration in 1983. She has had to struggle to survive and look after her small son, who is psychologically scarred by his father's assassination. Last year, in the first poll for 15 years, the people voted against
Pinochet. Even as they prepare to say goodbye to the general who has brought torture, repression and death to their homes, they remain apprehensive about their future. As commander-in-chief of the army, Pinochet will remain the power behind the throne.
