A series of programmes on three successive nights from different locations in Israel and the West Bank.
Through Israeli Eyes
The first programme comes from Kiryat Anavim, a kibbutz a few miles west of Jerusalem and the site of a cemetery for Israeli soldiers killed in the country's first war for survival in 1948. Today, 40 years and four wars later, Michael Ignatieff asks a group of Israelis how they see the new challenge now facing them - the intifada or uprising of Palestinians in Israel's occupied territories.

starring
Vietnam: a US army captain is given a 'mission to kill'. His assignment is to track down the renegade Col Kurtz who has established his own 'empire' in the jungle. This masterly film, freely adapted from Joseph Conrad 's novel The Heart of Darkness, proved to be one of the definitive studies of men in war, depicted through the captain's almost surreal odyssey in search of his victim. Magnificently photographed, this is one of the director's most remarkable and powerful films.
