starring
Anton Walbrook Marius Goring Moira Shearer
This classic film from collaborators Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger is probably the most successful fusion of fantasy and reality in British cinema. A lavishly produced story about a young ballet dancer who has to choose between her career and marriage, it interweaves this romantic story with great set pieces and an intense 'back-stage'drama.
Based on a fairy tale by HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN Written, produced and directed by MICHAEL POWELL and EMERIC PRESSBURGER

Over the 30 years that the Beaux Art Trio have been together, they must have played Schubert's Piano Trio in B flat, Op 99, hundreds of times, yet their performance is still as fresh and spontaneous as ever. This recording was made in the Signet Library, Edinburgh, shortly before founder member Bernard Greenhouse retired from the group.

Okavango - Jewel of the Kalahari
The second of three programmes written and narrated by Barry Paine The Living Jewel
In the clear blue waters, squeaking catfish hunt in packs and tiger fish terrorise the channels. It's Africa's greatest oasis, a mystery of lagoons and islands where the Okavango River spills into the Kalahari Desert.
The floating reeds are home to the shy sitatunga antelope, where reed frogs serenade through the night, and pel's owl catches fish in spectacular fashion -just some of the colourful inhabitants of this remarkable delta - Africa's living jewel.

Another case for the master detective who celebrates his centenary this year.
Starring Christopher Plummer as Sherlock Holmes, James Mason as Dr Watson

Sherlock Holmes is begged by East End traders to solve the series of vicious murders committed by the infamous 'Jack the Ripper'. As the indomitable detective and his assistant Dr Watson begin their investigation, they lift a veil of corruption and terror which affects the throne of England itself.
