Okavango - Jewel of the Kalahari
The second of three programmes written and narrated by Barry Paine The Living Jewel
In the clear blue waters, squeaking catfish hunt in packs and tiger fish terrorise the channels. It's Africa's greatest oasis, a mystery of lagoons and islands where the Okavango River spills into the Kalahari Desert.
The floating reeds are home to the shy sitatunga antelope, where reed frogs serenade through the night, and pel's owl catches fish in spectacular fashion -just some of the colourful inhabitants of this remarkable delta - Africa's living jewel.
