Kasparov v
Short Jeremy James presents this week's game from the thick of the battle at the OHRA tournament in Brussels. When today's players met earlier in the series,
England's Nigel Short rather unexpectedly beat the world champion Garry Kasparov. Short needs to repeat that performance today if he wants to be considered a serious contender for first prize. Comments from Bill Hartston

The Ballad of the Unknown Composer: The Berlin Years of Kurt Weill written by ALEXANDER GOEHR and BARRIE GAVIN
'I don't give a damn for posterity - 1 write for today.'
(KURT WEILL)
At one time, it looked as if posterity wouldn't give a damn for him either. 'Just a collaborator of Bert Brecht or a Berlin cabaret song-writer' were the official judgments.
But the career of Kurt Weill is a much more complex and subtle story. He was a unique and remarkable artist.
This survey of his career in Germany has extracts not only from his collaborations with Brecht, but also from his early symphonic music and from little-known operas like Royal Palace, Die Burgschaft and Der Silbersee. with Anja Silja , Lucy Peacock Philip Langridge , Michael Rippon , Gunter Reich
John van Kesteren and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gary Bertini
Directed by BARRIE GAVIN

Winner of this year's Golden Rose of Montreux
The Nobel Prize, that most glittering of awards, coveted by many, won by so few. But what is it really all about? Why should the inventor of dynamite wish to be remembered this way?
Why has Graham Greene never won the literature prize?
In this more or less factual account, as we are taken behind the scenes to see what awaits the potential winners, these questions are answered ... almost.
