Wounding
Over the last 18 months, Adrian Simpson, a miner from Stainforth in South
Yorkshire, has been in and out of court, in and out of hospital, lost his job, and worse - all because of the events of a few minutes one summer's day. 'It's really ransacked our lives,' says his wife, Edith.
During the miners' strike,
Adrian spent his days quietly fishing. He went near the picket line only once. A few minutes later he'd been arrested, suffered brain damage and been charged with maliciously wounding a police officer.
It is a crime he says he didn't commit. But the police evidence against him seems clear. If he loses his case, Adrian Simpson faces imprisonment. How will he cope? What will happen to his wife and their two children?
What will the future hold for them? Photography
