Border history -re-created in modern times by pageants on the green platform in front of the keep.
When Warkworth village drama group staged their
1983 show, BBC North East cameras were there to film the preparations and the performance.
Two hundred villagers took part. But could Peter run the farm and learn his lines? What happened at the Hemmel Hooley? And would the walls fall on cue?
In the end, everything went off with a bang. Photography

George Best
Barry Davies talks to one of the most prodigious talents in British football. In the years leading up to Manchester United's
European Cup victory in 1968, Best became the team's inspirational force.
Over the years many headlines have been written about George and his actions, and with hindsight it's easy to recognise a talent 'wasted'. But few of the fans who stood on the terraces when George Best was at his peak will forget the way he held the football world spellbound.
