'There is no substitute for Glyndebourne. The way it works is unique in a very bad world.'
(SIR JOHN PRITCHARD )
The operatic dream of John Christie and his wife Audrey Mildmay still flourishes half a century after its foundation. Set in the quiet Sussex countryside Glyndebourne is now run by their son, Sir George Christie - together with Musical Director Bernard Haitink Artistic Director Sir Peter Hall and General Administrator Brian Dickie. This filmed documentary traces preparations for the anniversary season, the gramophone recording of Don Gio vanni, the staging of the fantasy opera Where the Wild Things Are and the constant search for young singing talent. There are reflections from Sir John Pritchard , John Cox , David Hockney and Carl Ebert , as well as extracts from many of the famous Mozart productions.
