Falkland Sound to Plymouth Sound A play about people at war, and the reactions of an audience with a great personal investment in that war. ' I cannot think of a single war in Britain's history which has been so pointless,' wrote Lieutenant David Tinker , RN, shortly before he was killed in action aboard HMS Glamorgan in the Falklands War. That attitude led to 'Falkland Sound/ Voces de Malvinas'— a play dramatising his and some civilian experiences of the war-being banned from Plymouth earlier this year. Now the people of Plymouth have the opportunity to see and comment on the play as the Royal Court touring production comes to the Serenade Theatre.

The Nuclear Lagoon
Kwajalein Atoll is a chain of tiny Pacific islands surrounding the largest lagoon in the world. For 20 years now this lagoon has played a key role in the nuclear arms race - as the target area in a global missile range that begins on the Californian coast 5,000 miles away.
Peter France reports from Kwajalein on the changes the missiles have brought to the islanders - they now live herded together on a single island known as ' the slum of the Pacific ' - and traces the way in which weapons developed in the lagoon are affecting the world's balance of nuclear power.
