The programme in which the BBC hands over air time to the public.
Tonight: Raw Talent devised by Walter Lowe
' Back in the old days we had to make our own entertainment. Everyone would do a turn. Dad would slip Ex-Lax into the corn flakes and screw up the lavatory door. Mum would play a tune on the cat with a chain saw.' Tonight we pay tribute in our own way to the DIY entertainers.

A film portrait of Bob Glazebrook - Steinway's senior Concert Technician. He looks after 100 grand Pianos scattered about the country, and knows every one by its sound and its serial number. Steinway Hall in London houses his special fleet of top quality pianos kept aside for the more choosey of the world's best pianists - like Claudio Arrau, Emil Gilels and Clifford Curzon. For every performance Bob Glazebrook has to regulate and 'voice' the chosen piano in order to achieve the quality of sound to suit the artist, the work, and the acoustics of the hall. He also needs to know how to handle fastidious and occasionally temperamental artists.

Appearing in the programme are Howard Shelley, Alfred Brendel, Abbey Simon, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Peter Frankl and Bruce Forsyth

A series of eight autobiographical films in which Malcolm Muggeridge looks back over his life, and over his 50 years as a journalist and broadcaster - with extracts from some of his many programmes.
2: 1927-1935 - Journalism in Manchester, Moscow and Simla
' Nightly we tapped out our editorial exhortations - the voice of liberalism, righteous and enlightened, putting the world to rights ..."
' I felt that the Western world was collapsing, and it seemed that the only bright spot was the Russian Revolution and its consequences; and I thought if this is the alternative, I'd like to go and live there, rather than belong to this decomposing world ..."
' Journalists have to follow governments as sharks swim in the wake of big liners. I followed the government to Simla - one of the sharks to whom occasionally officials would throw a morsel of news.'

As an introduction to Mozart's opera being shown on BBC2 on Saturday night, Bernard Levin argues that there are important reasons for regarding ' Figaro ' differently from all Mozart's other operas, and that for the same reasons it is the greatest of his stage works.
The programme includes excerpts from JEAN-PIERRE FONNELLE 'S film of The Marriage of Figaro; JOSEPH LOSEY 'S film of Don Giovanni and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera productions of Cos! fan tutte and The Magic Flute by JOHN cox and SIR PETER HALL.
