A century ago the white man came and outlawed the ancient Indian religion. More recently the hunger for energy led to the site being proposed for a natural gas plant. To the Indian nations it seemed time for an uprising.

South Africa is the last white-dominated country on the African continent, and its policy of apartheid is almost universally condemned. Zimbabwe's independence has now brought black rule to all its borders.
With new challenges to white rule from inside and outside the country, Prime Minister P. W. Botha has warned that it must ' adapt or die '.
