This story is about two of the 60,000 Chinese living in Britain: To Kan Choi, a young cook, and his boss Tsui Wing Sang, the owner of several racehorses and successful Chinese restaurants in London. They are men of two worlds, caught between East and West. As To Kan Choi fries noodles in Chinatown, he dreams of becoming a kung fu movie Star and a TV dancer. When Tsui Wing Sang has a serious business problem he seeks guidance from Tin Hau, the Goddess of Mercy, in a fisherman's temple on a remote island in the South China Sea. Recently they both returned to Hong Kong and the New Territories for short visits to the very different lives they have left behind.

The story of one man's attempt to reunite under one roof the woman he claims is his wife, and the child he claims is his daughter.

The action of this documentary moves from Lyallpur in North Pakistan, to Islamabad, to Bradford and Leeds as Mohammed Akram tries to prove to British Immigration Officers that Rafiqa is his wife and entitled to live in Britain.
Finally it is up to the adjudicator of an immigration appeals hearing in Leeds to exercise the wisdom of Solomon. Is Mohammed Akram a liar, and Rafiqa an impostor? Or are they, in fact, man and wife?
