A Girl Named
Adriana Adriana Novelo - Mexico
What is it like to be a young woman in Mexico?
ADRIANA NOVELO was brought up in the traditional Mexican middle-class way; strict Catholic convent schooling; little contact with boys her age; a comfortable home background.
But, when she began to study international politics at Mexico's most prestigious university, she discovered a new, freer world.
Unable to accept the role assigned to women in Mexican society, she has now come into sharp conflict with her family.
This is the first of a group of films which show the life-styles of six girls in six very different countries: Mexico, Israel, Japan, Java, India and Ghana.
