The place is Pelly Bay in the Canadian Arctic; the year 1960. Even as late as this the People of the Seal were still following their ancient way of life.
Now all this has changed - but not before a complete record of the old way had been filmed. The result is a programme that starts out as a succession of fascinating pictures, but slowly turns into something more - the understanding of another way of life.
