The pairing of today's fixture brings together two Counties not previously televised in this competition this season. Like most of the English Counties they possess an abundance of individual and collective talent-yet for both this has been a season of paradox.

During today's tea interval at approximately 4.0 pm Lord's Taverner Ray Barrett reads "Opposing My Hero" by Arthur Mailey.

David Vine introduces the programme which includes news of all today's other cricket fixtures: Glamorgan v Gloucestershire, Middlesex v Kent, Northamptonshire v Essex, Nottinghamshire v Hampshire

An understanding of the workings of the insect world is, in many cases, vital to our very survival. Insect pests must be destroyed, and some techniques can set insect against insect to this end. But there is much about these grotesque, terrifying, but frequently beautiful creatures to capture our imagination. Their shapes and colours often give them an 'alien' appearance, and the fact that many spend most of their lives tucked away out of sight has led to theirs being thought of as 'the hidden world.'
