Buck meets a very attractive woman and falls in love. But she is not everyone's idea of a perfect lady-especially as she can out-shoot, outride, and very nearly outeuss any man on the ranch.
Why do women in more primitive places seem to have babies so much more easily than they do in England? Do women everywhere have cravings during the first few months of pregnancy? Do they all get tired towards the end? Do they all need to rest afterwards?
These are just some of the questions raised in this week's programme, which compares pregnancy and childbirth in five different places: in Colne, Lancashire; Esher, Surrey; Buk in the Highlands of New Guinea; Andheri in the hills of India; and the fishing village of Taipo in the New Territories of Hong Kong.
