The Royal Institution, London, Annual Christmas Lectures to Young People
by Professor George Porter

Where does time flow from and where to? Has it a beginning and an end? Can time flow backwards? The celebrated Second Law of Thermodynamics states that as time flows forward things tend to become more disordered. With this rule as a guide, young travellers from the audience enter our Time Machine, to become Dr Who for a while, and discover whether we can reverse the flow of time.

With Gordon Wilkins and Judith Jackson.

In the week of the International Boat Show at Earls Court the Wheelbase team take to the water to investigate why so many British families retire to Malta to live on a yacht. Is the answer cheap moorings, warm sunshine in winter, and income tax at six-pence in the pound?
It is estimated that 35,000 yachts are now kept in the Mediterranean, and Malta has an £8-million plan to build a new marina at Valletta - complete with hotels, shops, and flats - to rival the sailing resorts of the French Riviera.

This week's film in a series reflecting some of the finest work of many of Italy's famous and talented directors and artists stars Michele Cossu

A shepherd turns to banditry when his flock die of thirst.
Vittorio de Seta lived among the shepherds of Sardinia for two years while he was making this powerful picture about the struggle for existence in the poorer parts of the island. No professional actors were used and the leading parts were played by the shepherds themselves.
