It was a season of unforgettable International Rugby. France, holders of the Championship, crashed to defeat, while Wales in Investiture Year took the title and the Triple Crown. Ireland's spectacular run of victories, only going down to Wales, so nearly brought them international honours; and Budge Rogers overhauled Lord Wakefield's record number of caps for England in a XV playing bright open rugby.
Cliff Morgan looks back on a memorable season and introduces excerpts from the International matches of 1968-69.

Tonight, in this series of highly personal films, author and journalist David Holden argues that modern communications don't necessarily communicate any better than the old.

Television, radio, computers, and jet aeroplanes may seem to bring the world to our hearthrug but they also increase the danger of mistaking the image for reality. The volume of today's instant words and pictures is so overwhelming that, to make sense of them, we take refuge in stereotype attitudes, rely on new myths - and in doing so, we erect still more unreal images of the world

Laurie Lee in Spain
When Cider with Rosie was published in 1959 it immediately became a best-seller. In As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning, which is also autobiographical, Laurie Lee tells how he left the Gloucestershire village of his childhood and walked alone through Spain in the year before the Spanish Civil War. Tonight Review returns with him to some of the places he discovered
