Starring Dick Powell, Mary Martin, Betty Hutton, Eddie Bracken, Rudy Vallee
A Brooklyn girl takes a luxury cruise to the tropics in the hope of finding a wealthy husband.
This was one of the last musical-comedy films in the career of the late Dick Powell. A year later he was to gain new recognition in the dramatic role of Raymond Chandler's famous detective Philip Marlowe in the film "Farewell My Lovely". No American musical of the period seems complete without Mary Martin, who is still at the top of the musical-comedy tree - or, indeed, Betty Hutton. And Rudy Vallee, the famous crooner and heart-throb of the 1930s, steps out of his singing shoes to play the mean-minded millionaire Alfred Monroe.
