Moondog Charles Shaar Murray presents a profile of the eccentric composer and performer Louis Hardin , aka Moondog, whose radical percussion-driven music was championed in the late fifties by the jazz label Prestige.

Live from the Met: Un Ballo in Maschera nPlacido Domingo conducts Verdi's gripping tale of intrigue, deception and betrayal. The opera is based on the real murder of the Swedish King Gustavus III ata masked ball at the Stockholm opera house in 1792. Tonight's programme is given over to a concert by jazz-rock guitar hero Mike Stern. Stern studied under Pat Metheny and is a veteran of Blood, Sweat and Tears, but it was as a member of Miles Davis's comeback band in the early eighties that he gained popular recognition. Tonight's show includes an interview with Stern and features his latest band: Bob Franceschini on tenor sax, Terri Lyne Carrington on drums, and the bass virtuoso Chris Minh Doky.
