Julian Joseph introduces recordings by the great alto saxophonist. Cannonball
Adderley spent his early career in the company of John Coltrane and Miles Davis before setting up his own group in 1959 with brother Nat Adderley on trumpet. The BBC recorded their sextet in 1964 when the line-up included Charles Lloyd (alto sax and flute), Joe Zawinul (piano), Sam Jones (bass) and Louis Hayes (drums).
