Isabel Hilton talks to writer and director Mike Leigh. Through seminal films like Abigail's Party, Life Is Sweet and Secrets and Lies, Leigh has proved one of the most acute observers of modem life, but in his latest work Topsy Turvy, he's taken a new direction. Set in London of the 1880's, the film is laced with the music of Gilbert and Sullivan and explores the characters of the musical partnership.
