With Richard Baker. Antonio Salieri 's reputation as a musician and teacher has been overshadowed by the spurious rumour that he murdered Mozart. Yet Salieri was a central figure in the musical life of Vienna at the beginning of the 19th century.
Beethoven, Schubert and Liszt were just a few of his many composition pupils, some of whom he taught free of charge.
