Concluding the week exploring
Weber's works through the comments of composers who have both loved and learnt from his music.
"His music is the best treatise on orchestration. Even in our time. so rich in orchestral chemistry, he's hardly been surpassed. He reveals the secret soul of each instrument"
(Claude Debussy)
Debussy's recollections introduce highlights from Weber's dramatic swansong Oberon - the door to "that magic world with which Weber enriched our art" - and the Concertino for clarinet and orchestra.
