Malcolm Parry visits the Semtex rubber factory in Brynmawr, Gwent, which has been widely acclaimed as an icon of modernist architecture.
Completed in 1951 and intended to be a model of postwar design, the factory cost more than twice the expected amount to build. It was the first postwar building to be listed, but its future remains in doubt.
