Opera's new production of Britten's penultimate opera, originally written for television. Myfanwy Piper's libretto is based on a short story by Henry James. Owen, a gentle pacifist, clashes with his militaristic family, leading to a tragic climax in a haunted room at the family seat.

For the orchestra's Contemporary Music Network tour earlier this year, the musicians were mainly British. Chris Parker introduces the concert the orchestra gave in the Queen Elizabeth Hall , London.
