Antonio Salieri 's lesser known version of the story immortalised by Verdi is one of the very first operatic settings of a Shakespeare play. The opera presents a simplified version of The Merry Wives of Windsor, omitting complicated subplots and the lovers Anne and Fenton.
But the self-benefiting antics of the lovable buffoon
Falstaff remain the pivot of the action. A performance from the Schwetzingen Festival in Germany, recorded last April.

Through the increasing use of modern technology, the rock music industry is having to re-examine the terms "composer", "producer" and "DJ". Four young ambient composers create a piece of music and invite comment from Stockhausen, who no longer teaches composition. Dick Witts asks him why.
